Veterans and their eligible family members are entitled to burial benefits provided by the National Cemetery Administration at no cost and includes:

  • Burial plot
  • Opening and closing of the gravesite
  • Government grave liner
  • Headstone or maker with inscription
  • Interment flag
  • Perpetual care of the gravesite
  • Presidential Memorial Certificate
  • Military honors

Calverton National Cemetery is the only National Cemetery on Long Island providing burial space to accommodate a casket. The cemetery is located 70 miles east of New York City, approximately 90 minutes by car.

Calverton offers the following burial site options:

  • Casket, in-ground (only)
  • Cremation, in-ground
  • Cremation, above-ground columbarium


Long Island National Cemetery is located in Farmingdale, Long Island and situated 30 miles east of New York City. Burial site options are limited to cremated remains in a columbarium.
