According to the Cremation Association of North America (CANA), in 2018 the US cremation rate was 53.1% and by 2023, the US cremation rate is expected to reach 59.4% with no sign of decrease.  What was once a taboo subject, is rapidly gaining appeal over other forms of disposition.  Many people view cremation as the simplest and most economical alternative to a traditional funeral, ground burial or entombment.  While their perception stands to reason, cremation comes with more service options and flexibility than conventional arrangements.

When you choose cremation for a loved one or yourself, you can:

  • Choose Immediate/Direct Cremation, with no further ritual or service.
  • Arrange a memorial service for your loved one. The term ‘memorial service’ means the deceased’s casketed remains are not present for visitation or services. It can be held at any time after death, in any venue, independent of the cremation. According to your wishes, cremains may or may not be present at a memorial service.
  • Opt for a traditional cremation service in which the casketed deceased is present in the funeral home or your place of worship for visitation/service following which the cremation takes place. Family members may choose to accompany their loved one to the crematory.
  • Choose direct burial of cremated remains without a service or you can choose a graveside service with in-ground burial of cremains. You can also choose to have an inurnment, in which the urn containing your loved one’s ashes is placed in a columbarium. A committal service may be held at this time.
  • Elect to have the ashes returned to a family member, scattered at sea, incorportated into a living 'Eternal Reef,' or bury them with your beloved dog or cat in a pet cemetery.

Kleinberg Funeral Services can expertly guide you through these options. We also offer rental caskets for use at visitations and services as well as a complete selection of cremation urns.
