Mellany Quiacos Taglorin

May 6, 1959 — July 14, 2021

Mrs. Mellany Quiacos Taglorin “Nanay / Lany”, daughter of Isabelita Quiacos “Nanay Belle” and the late Alfredo Quiacos “Tatay Fred”, went home to be with the Lord on July 14th, 2021, at 62 years of age. Mellany was born on May 6th, 1959, in Cavite Naval Base Hospital, Cavite City, Philippines. She was raised in the small town of Bailen (Gen. Aguinaldo) in the province of Cavite. She graduated from Philippine Christian University – Mary Johnston College of Nursing in 1980 and went on to practice nursing which would be her lifelong profession in the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, and the United States. Her interest in overseas employment would lead her to her loving husband, Ivan. They first met on April 22, 1983, at the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency. Not long after, they were married on May 18, 1985. The years following would show the fruit of her labor when she was able to move to New York in 1990 and began work at South Nassau Communities Hospital where she dedicated over 30 years of her life serving the surrounding community. She settled down in Oceanside, NY with her husband and two children where she was an active member of the Christian Fellowship of Long Island. This local body of believers is what helped center her growing faith in the Lord. This was, as she called it, my “Church family”. Through the years, God used her life to minister to others. Her passion for serving was exemplified by her humble and honest character which grew from her trust and dependence on the Lord. She was a God-fearing woman whose life would be characterized by the way she placed others' interests above her own. She was a devoted and caring wife, a tender loving, and nurturing mother. In God’s sovereign plan, her life would be humbled when she was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2018. An unfortunate illness that only strengthened her willingness and passion to share the Gospel of Christ with those around her. This was not the end of her story as the Lord continued to use her to reach out to the lost and share the hope she has in Jesus, her savior. In 2021 she made the decision to move forward with a Bone Marrow Transplant at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City where she would remain until her final days joyfully serving her risen King. Room 825 was deemed “The Beacon”, that in her weakness and declining health, she set off on her mission to witness for Christ until the day she took her final breath, and the Lord called her home. This was her legacy, that in all things, Christ would be exalted. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Ivan Manuel Taglorin Jr; her two sons, Ivan Matthew Taglorin and Alfred Emmanuel Taglorin along with his wife, Rhea Taglorin, and two grandchildren, Alyssa and Maya; her Mother Isabelita Quiacos, and three sisters, Beth Umali of Toronto, Canada; Glory Quiacos of Oceanside, NY; and Lynn Quiacos of Las Pinas, Philippines. Visiting hours: Friday, July 16, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Saturday, July 17, 2021 from 2 pm to 6:00 pm at Kleinberg Funeral Services (at Macken Mortuary), 3930 Long Beach Road, Island Park, NY, across from Ace Hardware.
