Dr. Bruce Alan Levine, 73, passed away at home on November 3, 2026, surrounded by his wife and daughters, following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, on August 27, 1953, to Miriam “Mimi” Mendelson and Myron “Mike” Levine, Bruce spent much of his life in Levittown, NY where he remained in his childhood home, a place where he always felt most comfortable.

A graduate of SUNY Farmingdale, Cornell University (Class of 1977), and New York Chiropractic College, where he earned his Doctorate, Bruce was a proud Cornell alumnus. He returned to Ithaca often over the years and served as Chairman of the Alumni Ambassador Program on Long Island. He was a Chiropractor for 45 years, owning his own practice, Syosset Chiropractic Group, before practicing in Ridgewood, NY.

Bruce was defined by his many passions and interests, several of which spanned decades before he moved on to his next pursuit. From marathons, triathlons and cycling to grilling in the backyard, woodworking, coffee, computers, talk radio, and, more recently, podcasts, he was always curious and eager to explore something new. Among his greatest passions were his koi ponds, through which he cultivated a backyard oasis over many years, and shared his knowledge of the fish through educational social media videos. He served as Vice President of the Long Island Chapter of the Mid-Atlantic Koi Club.

His deep love and devotion to animals was perhaps best reflected in his beloved German Shepherds, Lady, Cassidy, Emma, and Ruby, who held a special place in his heart.

Bruce believed in holistic living and passionately pursued knowledge of wellness, vitamins, and Eastern and alternative medicine. This philosophy and knowledge guided his life and the choices he made every step of the way.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Susan LaPlaca Levine; his daughters, Breana Levine Pena, Lauren Brady, and Jennifer Brady; son-in-law Steven Pena and his grandsons, Jaxson Pena and Hudson Pena. He was preceded in death by his mother, Miriam Mendelson; his father, Myron Levine; his younger brother, Robert “Bobby” Levine; and his many beloved German Shepherds.

A Celebration of Life will take place at the family home on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 1–5 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research in Bruce's memory. https://lustgarten.org/
